The Tem-Cat softball team was in a high scoring affair on Tuesday evening at Tem-Cat Field with the Jarrell Lady Cougars. Playing in windy and cold conditions, the game was called after four innings of play with the game tied at 8-8.
Temple jumped out to a 4-0 lead on the Lady Cougars in the first with a pair of bases loaded walks, a Nani Rubio RBI single and an Ava Machuca RBI ground out.
However, in the third, Jarrell exploded for seven runs and grabbed a 8-4 lead on the Tem-Cats. This time the Tem-Cats would respond in the bottom of the inning as they scored runs on an error, a Glory Foreman groundout, a Lilliana Gandara RBI single and another Lady Cougar error that tied the game at 8-8.
Both teams went quietly in the fourth before the game was called.
Temple was limited to four hits on the evening as Saniya Maxwell led the Tem-Cat offense going 2-2 at the plate with a double, walk and run scored. Both Lilliana Gandara and Nani Rubio went 1-2 with an RBI and run scored.
Temple hopes to return to action on Saturday in the Westwood Warrior Classic as Thursday and Fridays games have already been cancelled due to the weather.
