BELTON - The Temple Tem-Cat softball team opened the Texas Leadoff Classic softball tournament with a 10-2 loss to Lake Belton in a game played at Belton High School on Thursday afternoon.

Brooke Knox took the loss on the mound for Temple allowing 10 runs on 14 hits while striking out four and walking none.

The Tem-Cat offense produced a pair of hits with Nani Rubio with a triple and Lilliana Gandara single.
The Tem-Cat runs came in the first as Jordyn Valdez scored on a flyball error and and in the fifth as Nani Rubio tripled and scored on an Ava Machuca sacrifice fly.

Temple returns to play on Friday with a matchup against Lewisville at 9:00 am at College Station.
