AUSTIN - The Tem-Cat freshman basketball team went a perfect 4-0 in this weeks Austin McCallum Tournament and earned the title of tournament champions after their 22-14 victory over Buda Johnson in the championship game.
The final game was a true championship matchup as both team went to halftime tied at 8-8 with Alearia Westbrook leading the way for Temple with 6 first half points. However, an 8-2 third quarter sent the Tem-Cats to the fourth quarter with a 16-10 lead. And in the fourth, Westbrook added another bucket while Cykharia White was a perfect 4-4 from the free throw line as Temple held on for the 22-14 victory.
Alearia Westbrook led Temple with 8 points while Cykharia White had 6 points. With 2 points each were Jazale Mose, Aniya Wilson, Ava Anderson and Komariah Freeman.
In their semifinal matchup, Temple defeated Austin Royal by a score of 57-50.
Temple was led by Cykharia White with 17 points and Ava Anderson with 16 points.
Also for Temple, Aniya Wilson had 8 points, Komariah Freeman, Jazale Mose and Emmy Flores 4 points.
Temple (5-0) will return to action on Tuesday with a road game at Robinson beginning at 5:00 pm.
