Tem-Cats cruise past Killeen in straight sets

KILLEEN - The Tem-Cat Volleyball team find themselves in the stretch run of their season and battling for a place in the UIL state playoffs. On Friday night, Temple helped themselves out with a straight set victory over Killeen in their final road match of the season. The Tem-Cats defeated the Lady Kangaroos by a score of 25-14, 25-7, 25-14.

The Tem-Cats (4-6) find themselves one game back of Bryan (5-5) for the fourth place playoff spot and 2 games out of third as they close out the regular season next week with a pair of home games which include Bryan next Friday.

Kylie Rayas dished out a team high 14 assist while also recording a team high 4 aces to lead the Tem-Cat offense.

Senior Dawn Smith was outstanding at the net as she posted a team high 10 kills while recording 2 blocks, 3 digs and an ace while sophomore Kendall Tate had 9 kills, 8 assist3 blocks and 3 aces.

Also for the Tem-Cats, Dejah Thomas had 6 kills, 1 block; Keagan Bankston 2 aces, Taylor Regula 3 digs, block, aces; Kylie Dixon 3 kills, 4 digs; Madison Sapp 4 digs, ace; Jaidyn Henry 2 kills and Willow Pratt 1 block, 1 kill.

Temple improves to 4-6 on the season and will return to play on Tuesday with a crucial home match with Killeen Shoemaker at Wildcat Gym beginning at 6:00pm.
