The Tem-Cat junior varsity volleyball team completed an impressive run in the Belton ISD Tournament on Saturday as they split their four games and concluded the tournament with a record of 4-2 overall.
On Thursday, the Tem-Cats went 2-0 with victories over Lorena and Waco.
Temple defeated Lorena 25-20, 25-14 with Avery Perez collecting 5 kills and Madison Bond with 11 assist and 5 digs. Gabi Barbosa also had a strong match with 3 kills and 3 digs.
In their second match, the Tem-Cats defeated Waco 25-10, 25-10.
Saturday saw the Tem-Cats enter bracket play. In their opener, they dropped and three set battle to Georgetown 14-25, 25-14, 15-11. Madison Bond collected a team high 16 assist to go along with 4 digs while Mia Taylor was a force at the net with 8 kills and 2 blocks. Gabi Barbosa recorded 5 kills, 6 digs, 2 blocks; Aaliyah Abddeen 4 kills; Arielah Vargas 6 digs, Bella Mitchan 7 digs and Cheyenne Kepler 5 digs.
Temple rebounded to defeat Lorena again, this time 25-20, 25-16. Gabi Barbosa with 8 kills and 8 digs while Madison Bond had 14 assist and 8 digs. Also for Temple, Avery Perez 4 kills, Arielah Vargas 4 kills, Bella Mitchan 4 digs and Cheyenne Kepler 5 digs, 2 assist.
In their third match of the day, Temple defeated Waco Connally 25-18, 25-17. Gabi Barbosa with 5 kills, 4 digs, Madison Bond 12 assist, Aaliyah Abddeen 4 kills, Cheyenne Kepler 9 digs, Arielah Vargas 3 kills, 3 digs; Avery Perez 5 digs, 2 kills; Chloe Watkins 3 digs; Bella Mitchan 4 digs.
Lake Belton was their opponent in their final match of the day and the Tem-Cats played impressively but fell to the Lady Bronchos 25-16, 25-27, 16-14. Avery Perez and Mia Taylor each posted 5 kills while Madison Bond racked up 16 assist, 5 digs, 2 kills. Aaliyah Abddeen also posted 4 kills.
The Tem-Cats now stand 12-4 on the season and will return to play on Tuesday when they will host Killeen Ellison in their first home match of the season beginning at 5:30 pm.
