TAYLOR - The Tem-Cat Volleyball team earned a hard fought three game sweep on the road over the Taylor Ducks on Tuesday evening by a score of 25-23, 25-22, 25-17.
The match didn't start exactly as the Tem-Cat had envisioned as a spirited crown fueled an 8-0 start for the Lady Ducks. Trailing 13-2 at one point, the Tem-Cats began their comeback behind six assist from sophomore Kendall Tate momentum changing kills from Dawn Smith (3) and with two each, Kylie Dixon and Dejah Thomas. Temple finally caught the Ducks at 22-22, and while briefly giving the lead back to the Ducks at 23-22, Temple finished rolled off the next three points to take Game 1.
Temple took early leads in the next two games and was able to fend off any Lady Duck rallies the remainder of the night.
Senior Dawn Smith and freshman Kylie Dixon led the Tem-Cats with 8 kills each while Smith also chipped in 2 aces and 3 digs.
Sophomore Kendall Tate had a superb all around match with a team high 25 assist, 4 blocks, 3 kills, 8 digs and one ace.
Kylie Rayas recorded 12 digs, 2 assist, 3 aces; Arianna Mascari 9 digs; Taylor Regula 5 kills, 2 digs; Keagan Bankston 3 digs; Dejah Thomas 6 kills, 3 blocks and Willow Pratt with 2 kills 3 blocks.
Temple (9-11) on the season will return to tournament play on Thursday in Bryan with three games at the Legends Event Center. Matches set for 11:00, 12:00 and 2:00.
