HEWITT – In a tough road test Thursday evening, the Temple Tem-Cats faced a relentless Midway offense, ultimately falling 5-0 at Panther Stadium. Despite the scoreline, the night was highlighted by gritty individual performances from the Temple backline and a standout showing in goal.

Midway established control early in the first half, finding gaps in the Temple defense to net three goals before the break. While the Tem-Cats made adjustments during the intermission, the Panthers managed to add two more in the second half to seal the victory.

Standout Performances

The final score didn't reflect the effort of Skylar Lucudine, who was under fire for much of the night. Lucudine finished the match with 7 saves, several of which were acrobatic stops that kept the Tem-Cats within striking distance for much of the contest.

For her consistent work rate and leadership on the pitch, Valerie Velasquez was named Player of the Match. Velasquez was instrumental in transitioning the ball out of the defensive zone and remained a vocal presence for Temple throughout the full 80 minutes.

District Outlook

The loss moves Temple to 1-1 in district play. While a road loss to a perennial powerhouse like Midway is a hurdle, the Tem-Cats remain in the thick of the playoff hunt as the early district standings take shape.

Up Next: Return to the Soccer Complex

The Tem-Cats won't have long to dwell on the loss. They return home to the Temple Soccer Complex tomorrow night for a pivotal district matchup.
