CORSICANA — Entering its first playoff match since 2017, the Temple volleyball team knew it had a tough task at hand going into Thursday night’s matchup against Duncanville, which entered on a 17-match win streak.
Despite a valiant effort, the Tem-Cats fell in consecutive sets 25-15, 25-7 and 25-14 in the Class 6A Division I action.
The outcome sent the Panthers (37-6) into next week’s area round to face the winner between Wylie and Rockwall-Heath, and it ended Temple’s season at 19-26.
The Panthers were led by senior Ryea’ Jackson and freshman outside hitter Peyton Smith. The duo was responsible for most of Duncanville’s points, even as the Tem-Cats refused to bow and continued to fight until the end.
