Wildcats double up Killeen 6-3

The Temple Wildcat varsity soccer team earned their first 12-6A victory of the season on Friday with a 6-3 victory over Killeen High at the Temple Soccer Complex.

The Wildcat offense was able to produce one of their high scoring performances of the season with three players scoring a pair of goals on the evening with those being Arik Diaz, Alejandro Soto Quinones and Jean Carlo Baustista Esmeralda.

The offense started early with Arik Diaz recording the first goal in the fourth minute off an assist from Alejandro Soto Quinones.

Soto Quinones extended the Wildcats lead to 2-0 in the 16th minute off an Esteban Martinez assist.

Killeen got on the board in the 18th minute to cut the lead to 2-1 but Jean Carlo Bautista Esmeralda padded the Temple lead to 3-1 with his first goal of the season in the 25th minute on a Brian Fonseca Cuellar assist.

A few minutes later in the 29th minute, Killeen's Cameron Meyer pulled the Roos within 3-2 but saw Jean Carlo Baustista give the Wildcats a 2 goal cushion again in the 39th minute off a Nelson Tamang assist.

Coming into the second half leading 4-2, Temple extended their lead again by four goals as Alejandro Soto Quinones scoring his second goa of the night in the 50th minute with an assist from Javier Orzua and Arik Diaz scoring in the 59th minute off and Soto Quinones assist.

Killeen would make the final score 6-3 with another Cameron Meyer goal with 24 seconds remaining in the contest.

In goal for the Wildcats was Jonathan Lopez Sotello who recorded 5 saves on 7 attempts.

Temple 1-1-1 will return to action on February 4th when they will travel to Bryan to take on the Vikings beginning at 7:30 pm.
