KILLEEN — In a District 12-6A opener full of explosive plays, Temple had too many of them for Killeen Shoemaker to keep up.
Two of Champ Mayo’s four long touchdown passes were second-half strikes to Christian Tutson and Ramauhn Brown as the Wildcats pulled away for a 44-26 victory over the Grey Wolves on Thursday night at Leo Buckley Stadium.
With its 12th consecutive win over Shoemaker, Temple (4-1) recorded its third straight victory and quadrupled its 2023 win total. Shoemaker (3-2) saw its three-game winning streak end.
Mayo, Temple’s junior quarterback, was 28-of-37 passing for 363 yards and four scores, with one interception.
