One thing about Temple “Cat” safety Jaron Dailey is that he tends to be around the football. The 5-foot-9, 170-pound senior leads the Wildcats with five passes broken up, three interceptions — two against Copperas Cove in last Friday’s District 12-6A opener — and two forced fumbles along with 36 tackles, the team’s third-best total.

“Jaron’s a really good coverage guy and he’s got a really good skillset and ball skills,” Temple defensive coordinator Thomas Rocco said. “He’s just so quick. He’s a very good tackler and plays with heavy (pads).”

Another thing about Dailey is that he’s willing to make sacrifices for his team. As a junior cornerback last season, he earned second-team all-district recognition after producing 33 tackles (23 solo), six pass breakups and a vital, late interception that helped the Wildcats secure a close victory at Round Rock.
