ENNIS, Texas — The Temple High Junior Varsity Girls Cross Country team showcased strong individual grit on Saturday morning at the Ennis Lions Den Country Invitational, held at Ennis High School.

Competing across a 5,000-meter course against a fast regional field, the Tem-Cats did not field a complete roster of five runners required to earn a spot in the official team standings. However, Temple's small squad made an impact at the top of the individual field, highlighted by top-20 medalist performances.

Top Meet Individual Performers

Forney High School dominated the team standings with a near-perfect score of 16 points, sweeping the top four overall individual spots in the 5K race.

Tem-Cat Medalists & Temple Individual Performances

Three Temple runners earned Top-20 Medalist honors by placing in the top 20 of the individual field:
Layla Ramos (8th Place – 24:56.30): Ramos set the pace for Temple, crossing the finish line in under 25 minutes to place 8th overall and claim top-10 medalist honors.

Elianna Casanova (10th Place – 25:20.23): Running closely behind, Casanova secured 10th place overall, giving the Tem-Cats two medalists inside the top 10.

Genesis Barrett (19th Place – 26:38.19): Barrett delivered a strong performance to lock in 19th place overall, rounding out a trio of top-20 medalist finishes for the Tem-Cats.
