SAN MARCOS, TX — The Temple High Varsity Boys Cross Country team faced off against their toughest test of the season on Friday morning, competing in the Hays ISD Cross Country Invitational held at the 5 Mile Dam Soccer Complex. Featuring a massive lineup of runners across Central and South Texas, the meet served as the largest and most talented field of competitors the Wildcats have seen so far this year.
Temple's squad posted strong individual efforts across the 5,000-meter course, led by junior Joe Vargas, who cracked the top 100 with a team-leading time of 17:38.00 to place 98th overall. Freshmen Easton Williams closely followed, taking 115th place with a time of 17:49.00. Senior Titus Tamez rounded out the Wildcats' top three finishers, crossing the line in 18:18.00 for 147th place.

The individual title was claimed by Matthew Morales of Georgetown High, who crossed the finish line in a blisteringly fast 15:26.00.
