For the second consecutive week to begin their season, the Temple Wildcats staged a spirited second-half comeback but ran out of time to complete it.
After trailing big-play Round Rock 42-17 with 5 minutes remaining in the third quarter Friday night, Temple exploded for three straight touchdowns as junior quarterback Kylan Basinger sprinted for a 57-yard score and threw TD passes of 7 and 36 yards to fellow juniors Bradyn Williams and Brycen Thomas, respectively, slicing the Dragons’ once-commanding lead to 42-37 with 4:19 left.
But needing a quick defensive stop to get the football back for a potential go-ahead score, the Wildcats couldn’t get it.
