TEMPLE, Texas — On a warm Friday morning, the Temple High Junior Varsity Girls Cross Country team hit the trails at Wilson Park to compete in the Profit Invitational. Running in front of a home crowd, the Tem-Cats demonstrated outstanding grit and determination on the 2-mile course, facing off against a competitive field of local and regional schools.

While Temple did not place any runners in the overall individual Top 20, the team put forth a spirited collective effort, led by freshman Layla Ramos, who finished just outside the Top 20 in 25th place.

Team Standings
In the team competition, the Lake Belton Broncos dominated the field, capturing first place with an incredibly low score of 16 points. Legacy Ranch High School secured second place with 62 points, while Liberty Hill High School rounded out the top three with 97 points.

The Temple JV Girls finished in 7th place overall with a team score of 183 points, finishing ahead of Waco University and Round Rock Stony Point.

Top Individual Performances (Overall Top 5)
The individual race was dominated by Lake Belton, who claimed five of the top six spots. Senior Shreya Muni of Lake Belton took home the individual title with an impressive time of 14:58.41, closely followed by teammate Abigail Glasser (15:03.22).

Freshman Layla Ramos paced the Tem-Cats, crossing the finish line in 25th place overall with a team-best time of 16:46.48. Sophomore Genesis Barrett also delivered a strong performance, securing 32nd place with a time of 16:54.76.

The Tem-Cats will look to build on their performances as they prepare for their next competition. Temple will travel to San Marcos on Friday, Sept. 4 to participate in the Hays ISD Invitational.

The meet will be held at the 5 Mile Soccer Complex in San Marcos, with the action scheduled to begin bright and early at 7:15 am.
