BELTON — Temple made too many mistakes in Friday night’s season opener against Georgetown to ever truly gain the upper hand, but a spirited fourth-quarter comeback left the Wildcats positive about the competitiveness they displayed in defeat.

After Zechariah Guyton’s second touchdown rush and Reagan Bollinger’s 30-yard blocked punt return for a score staked the Eagles to a 28-14 lead through three quarters, Temple shut out Georgetown in the final period and used a safety and Kylan Basinger’s 13-yard TD pass to Stephen Midturi to slice its deficit to 28-23 with 1:39 remaining.
