COLLEGE STATION — The Temple High Junior Varsity Girls Cross Country team hit the course on Saturday morning, putting on a strong showing at the Coach Giese Meet. Competing in the 2-mile run, the Tem-Cats faced a highly competitive field and fought hard across the line.

Leading the way for Temple was freshman Lyla Ramos, who delivered a standout performance, breaking into the top 30. Ramos finished 26th overall with a time of 15:58.30.

Sophomore Genesis Barrett also had a solid run, clocking in at 17:02.50 to secure 44th place. Rounding out the Temple competitors were freshman Elianna Casanova, who completed the course in 19:05.41 for 62nd place, and sophomore Sandra Garcia, who crossed the finish line in 20:15.30 for 68th place.

The individual title was claimed by Humble Kingwood Park's freshman standout, Abbey McKenry, who paced the field with a time of 13:50.50. Here are the top five individual finishers from the meet:

Looking Ahead: Home Turf Next

The JV Tem-Cats won't have to travel far for their next competition. Temple will compete the Pro-Fit Invitational on August 28 at the Wilson Complex in Temple. The meet is scheduled to begin at 7:30 AM, where the team will look to carry their momentum onto their home course.
