Temple certainly didn’t need to play perfect football in its home scrimmage against Round Rock Stony Point on Thursday evening at Wildcat Stadium, but the Wildcats needed to get in a lot of good action against an opponent other than themselves.
Second-year head coach Chad President said it was mission accomplished on that front as his Wildcats now turn their attention toward the season-opening game against Georgetown at 7 p.m. next Friday at Mary Hardin-Baylor’s Crusader Stadium in Belton.
“I think offensively, it was just the functionality of things — getting lined up fast, getting our eyes on the sideline. It was much better going into Year 3 as an offense,” said President, who guided Temple to a 7-4 playoff season last year in his head coaching debut. “And defensively, we were flying around. There was one play where I think we had nine shirts by the football. We created some turnovers tonight.
