Temple learned a bit about playoff comebacks last spring when it double-dipped Duncanville out of the first round after falling into a one-game hole. The Tem-Cats will carry that mindset into today when they aim to pull off the same feat.
Michaela Landers had four hits that included a grand slam, and Maci Barnes struck out seven and scattered three hits in a complete-game effort to lead Waxahachie to a 17-0 victory over Temple in the opener of their Class 6A Division I bi-district series Friday night at Tem-Cat Field. The setback left the Tem-Cats in the same predicament they were in this time last April — a loss shy of elimination.
In order to rekindle the same magic, they must win the next two over a Lady Indians team that captured its 27th straight victory after charging to Friday’s run-rule outcome on the strength of a six-run third that was followed by a five-run fourth that broke open the game.
