HEWITT – The Temple Tem-Cat Track & Field team brought their "A" game to Panther Stadium on Thursday, battling through a field of elite competition at the District 11/12 Area Meet. In a meet where every fraction of a second and every inch counted, the Tem-Cats secured a respectable 4th place team finish with 68 points.

The competition was fierce, with powerhouse programs Lancaster (141 points) and Duncanville (134 points) claiming the top two spots. However, the true victory for Temple was the qualification of several athletes for the Regional Meet, set to take place back at Panther Stadium on May 1-2.

Gold Standard: The Medalists

The Tem-Cats saw an incredible display of individual dominance, claiming three gold medals across the field events.

Kaurie Holleman soared to a 1st Place finish in the Long Jump, hitting a massive mark of 19’0.
Ka’Myhria Freeman dominated the Shot Put ring, taking home 1st Place with a toss of 38’1 ¼.
Cameron Evans displayed nerves of steel in the Pole Vault, clearing 9’6 to secure 1st Place.

Analisa Terry showed incredible grit in the distance events, earning a 3rd Place bronze in the 3200 meters with a time of 12:02.84.

Top Performers and Heart-Pounding Finishes

The sprinting events proved why District 11/12 is considered one of the toughest in the nation. In the 100 meters, Damauria Nolan-Hemphill (5th) and Audrey Troup (6th) ran blistering times of 11.82 and 11.98 respectively. To put their speed in perspective: every runner who finished ahead of the Tem-Cats is currently ranked in the Top 50 in the country.

In the most dramatic finish of the day, the 4x100 Relay team was narrowly edged out of a Regional qualifying spot by the thinnest of margins. Cedar Hill clocked a 47.218, while Temple’s Kyera Banks, Damauria Nolan-Hemphill, Aniya Brumet, and Audrey Troup finished at 47.220—a difference of just two-thousandths of a second.
