TEMPLE, TX — The Temple Tem-Cat varsity track and field team left no doubt who rules District 12-6A this week. Competing on their home turf at Wildcat Stadium on April 8-9, the Tem-Cats put on a clinic of speed, strength, and endurance to secure their fourth consecutive District Championship.
Temple finished the meet with a staggering 207 points, nearly doubling the score of runner-up Midway (106 points), while Killeen Shoemaker rounded out the top three with 82 points. The victory was a total team effort, marked by school records, multiple gold medals, and a massive wave of qualifiers advancing to the next round of the postseason.
Championship Medalists & Standout Performers
The Tem-Cats’ podium was crowded all weekend, but a few performances stood out as historic:
Analisa Terry delivered the performance of the meet in the 3200 meters, taking 1st Place and setting a New School Record with a time of 11:49.58.
Damauria Nolan-Hemphill was a force of nature, capturing 1st Place in both the 100 meters (11.87) and the Long Jump (18'6 ¾"), while also anchoring the gold-medal 4x100 relay.
Maliah Neal dominated the 400 meters with a 1st Place finish (58.61), showing incredible closing speed.
The Throws Squad was untouchable, with Kamiya Porter and Bella Jenkins taking the top two spots in the Discus, and Ka’Myhria Freeman leading another 1-2 finish in the Shot Put.
Road to Hewitt: Area Meet Qualifiers
Congratulations to the following athletes who finished in the Top 4 of their respective final events. These Tem-Cats have officially qualified for the District 11/12 Area Meet on April 16th at Panther Stadium in Hewitt. There, they will face the top four from District 11-6A for a chance to advance to the Region II Championships.
