TEMPLE, TX — It was a weekend of high speed and heavy competition at Wildcat Stadium as the Temple Wildcat varsity track and field team hosted the District 12-6A Championships on April 9-10. Competing against a stacked field, the Wildcats secured a 5th-place team finish with 41 points. Killeen Shoemaker took the team title with 186 points, followed by Harker Heights in 3rd with 164.
While the team standings were dominated by the Killeen schools, the Wildcats proved they belong on the big stage, showing massive improvement across the board and securing several spots in the upcoming postseason.
The Road to the Finals: Prelim Results
The action kicked off on April 8 with the preliminary rounds. In the sprinting and hurdle events, athletes had to dig deep to finish in the top 8 to earn a lane in the Thursday finals.

Finals: Standouts and Medalists
The Wildcats saved their best for the main event. Highlighting the meet was the 4x200 Relay team, who powered their way to a Silver Medal finish. The quartet of Cameran Richburg, Qui'Marion Dobbins, Khamani Sanders, and Ramauhn Brown clocked a blistering 1:28.33 to take 2nd Place.
Individual medals were also earned in the sprint and middle-distance sectors. Adan Hernandez also punched his ticket to the next round with a gritty 4th-place finish in the 800 meters.

At the Area Meet, our Wildcats will go head-to-head with the top 4 qualifiers from District 11-6A. The stakes are high: the top 4 finishers at Area will advance to the Class 6A Region II Championships on April 24-25, also held at Panther Stadium.
