TEMPLE, TX — Neither the Bryan Lady Vikings nor a steady central Texas downpour could slow down the Temple Tem-Cats on Thursday evening. Despite playing in light to moderate rainfall from the third inning onward, Temple unleashed a clinical offensive performance at the Tem-Cat Softball Field, cruising to an 11-2 District 12-6A victory.

The win moves Temple to a 6-4 district record, while Bryan falls to 1-9.

Maxwell’s Masterclass

The story of the night was Saniya Maxwell, who put on a hitting clinic despite the slick conditions. Maxwell went a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate, accounting for four RBIs. She set the tone early in the first inning, launching a two-run blast to right field to give Temple an immediate cushion.
Maxwell wasn't finished, however; she returned in the fourth to rope a crucial double that drove in two more, effectively putting the game out of reach for the visitors.

Power and Precision in the Circle

While Maxwell handled the offense, Brenna Thomas dominated from the rubber. The right-hander went the distance, pitching all seven innings and racking up 10 strikeouts. Though she navigated seven hits and four walks, Thomas remained poised under the rain, allowing only two runs.

Thomas also helped her own cause with the bat, crushing a towering solo home run to left field in the second inning to extend the lead to 4-0.

Big Fourth Inning Breaks it Open

Bryan attempted to chip away at the lead, but Temple responded with a five-run explosion in the bottom of the fourth. The inning was highlighted by:

Ava Machuca’s two-RBI single.
An RBI double from Madyson Combs.
Saniya Maxwell’s second double of the night, which pushed the score to 9-2.

Defensive Excellence

Perhaps most impressive given the wet conditions was Temple’s "sure-handed" defense. The Tem-Cats played a clean game with zero errors, a testament to their focus as the rain intensified. Madyson Combs anchored the defense, handling a team-high 12 chances without a stumble.
