KILLEEN, TX – In a display of nerves as steady as the Texas breeze, senior golfer Elliot Trivette delivered a performance for the ages at the District 12-6A Golf Championship this week. Over two grueling days at Stonetree Golf Club, Trivette proved why he’s one of the most formidable competitors in the region, securing a runner-up finish and a coveted spot in the regional tournament.
Consistency is Key at Stonetree
Navigating the 6,261-yard, par 72 course, Trivette was the picture of consistency. While other players grappled with the pressure of the district stage, Elliot remained remarkably composed, carding an identical 74 on both Wednesday and Thursday.
His two-day total of 148 placed him right in the thick of the hunt, just a single stroke behind Midway’s Thad Ohmstede, who claimed the individual title with a 147.
The Playoff: A Birdie for the Ages
The drama reached its peak on Thursday afternoon. After 36 holes of regulation play, Trivette found himself deadlocked with Midway’s Parker Ferguson. With a podium spot and momentum on the line, the duo headed to a sudden-death playoff.
Under the intense scrutiny of the gallery, Trivette showed his veteran poise. On the final playoff hole, he stuck his approach and sunk a clutch birdie to defeat Ferguson, officially claiming 2nd Place overall in the district.
The Road to State Runs Through Tyler
With his silver medal secured, Trivette isn’t slowing down. His eyes are now firmly set on the Class 6A Region II Tournament, scheduled for April 13-14.
He will travel to Eagles Bluffs Golf Course in Tyler, Texas, where the competition will only get stiffer. For Trivette, the mission is simple: maintain the consistency he showed at Stonetree and climb the leaderboard to punch his final ticket to the State Tournament.
