HARKER HEIGHTS – The Temple Tem-Cat freshman track and field team left no doubt who the class of the district was on Wednesday. Competing at the District 12-6A Track & Field Championships at Harker Heights Football Stadium, the Tem-Cats dominated the field to claim the overall team title in their final meet of the season.

Temple finished in 1st Place with a commanding 172 points, comfortably gapping host Harker Heights (140 points) and Killeen (106 points).

Relay Dominance

The Tem-Cats swept the relay events, showcasing the depth and speed of the freshman roster. The squad secured gold in the 4x100 Relay (Saniya Blunson Ashlea Hickey Snisia Williams Destiny Smith) with a time of 52.55, followed by a victory in the 4x200 Relay (Ashlea Hickey Snisia Williams Abreanna Jarrett Saniya Blunson) at 1:53.10. They capped off the evening with a stellar performance in the 4x400 Relay (J'Viana Jackson Destiny Smith Desiree Tools Abreanna Jarrett), clocking in at 3:47.07 to solidify their championship status.

Individual Standouts

Saniya Blunson and Snisia Williams were instrumental in the team's scoring. Blunson captured the gold in both the 100 meters (13.90) and the Long Jump (15’3). Williams followed closely, taking 2nd in the Long Jump and 1st in the Triple Jump (32’1).

In the distance and middle-distance events, Desiree Tools earned 1st Place in the 800 meters (2:48.91) and a bronze in the 400 meters. Bella Sahm proved to be a workhorse for the Tem-Cats, medaling in three separate distance events including the 3200m, 800m, and 1600m.
