KILLEEN, TX – The Temple Junior Varsity baseball team left no doubt on the diamond Thursday evening, dismantling Killeen High School in a double-header that showcased a masterclass in both offensive efficiency and defensive lockdown. The Wildcats marched into Killeen and secured two massive shutouts, outscoring their opponents by a combined 34 runs.

A Scoring Frenzy

The Wildcats set the tone early in Game 1, capitalizing on every opportunity to cross the plate in a 15–0 rout. While many teams might have cooled off after such a lopsided victory, Temple kept their foot on the gas for the nightcap. In Game 2, the offense reached even greater heights, pouring on the runs to secure a 19–0 win and complete the evening sweep.

Dominance on the Mound

While the scoreboard reflected a hitting clinic, the story from the pitcher's mound was one of absolute perfection. Temple’s rotation kept the Killeen batters completely off-balance, refusing to surrender a single hit across both contests.

Preston Calderon set the pace with two innings of work, striking out four batters and maintaining a pristine 0.00 ERA.

Zaveon Willis was equally untouchable in his two innings of relief, racking up three strikeouts and allowing zero hits to help seal the defensive effort.

Offensive Leaders

The Wildcats' lineup was relentless, but two players stood out for their perfect performances at the plate. Combined across both games, Zaveon Willis and Landon Gandera went a collective 6-for-6, providing the spark that ignited the Temple dugout.

Willis showcased his power and speed, finishing the night with two singles and a triple. Gandera was the model of consistency, racking up three sharp singles to keep the basepaths moving throughout the evening.

Looking Ahead

The Wildcats will look to carry this momentum into next week as they prepare for another road test. Temple is scheduled for a double-header against Bryan High School on April 9. The first pitch is set for 5:30 PM, with the second game following at 7:30 PM.

If the Wildcats can replicate the discipline and power they showed in Killeen, the rest of the district should be on high alert.
