KILLEEN – The Temple Wildcat freshman track and field team put on a display of speed and endurance this past Thursday at Leo Buckley Stadium. In a specialized meet limited to relay events and the 3200-meter run, the Wildcats secured a 2nd Place team finish, racking up 48 points in a tightly contested field.

Killeen Shoemaker took the top spot on their home turf with 60 points, while Killeen Chaparral rounded out the top three with 42 points.

Relay Dominance

The Wildcats’ scoring was fueled by a trio of silver-medal performances in the relay events. The sprint crew showed remarkable chemistry, consistently finishing at the front of the pack.

The 4x100 relay team, consisting of Da'Ravion Bell, Dennis Gibson, Jaylin Carr, and Leon Tolbert IV, set the tone early with a blistering time of 44.13, earning them 2nd Place.

The momentum carried into the 4x200 relay, where Dennis Gibson and Leon Tolbert IV teamed up with Anthony Ramos and Da'Ravion Bell. The quartet clocked in at 1:33.01, securing another silver medal for the Wildcats.

In the final track event of the day, the 4x400 relay team—composed of Dennis Gibson, Bre'Lon Matthews, Leon Tolbert IV, and Da'Ravion Bell—battled through the fatigue to post a time of 3:42.15, clinching yet another 2nd Place finish and cementing Temple's spot on the team podium.
