KILLEEN – The Temple Tem-Cat junior varsity track and field team put on a dominant display of depth and speed on Thursday at Leo Buckley Stadium. Competing in a crowded field at the Killeen ISD Relays, the Tem-Cats surged to a 2nd Place team finish, racking up an impressive 164 points.
Temple battled closely with Harker Heights, who took the top spot with 175 points, while Killeen High rounded out the top three with 118 points.
Track Stars Lead the Charge
The Tem-Cats were paced by several multi-event standouts. Madelyn Krumnow was the distance queen of the day, securing gold in both the 3200 meters (14:12.67) and the 1600 meters (6:29.80).
On the shorter side of the track, the 4x100 Relay team—consisting of Maliyah Caldwell, Lilyian Wilkerson, Azaylea Peoples, and Jazmine Locklear—blazed their way to a 1st Place finish with a time of 50.49. Sterling Griffith also climbed the top of the podium, winning the 800 meters in 2:41.47.
Field Event Power
The Tem-Cats showed their versatility in the pits and circles as well. Kimorah Fillmore claimed 1st Place in the Shot Put with a toss of 30’0 ½, while Azaylea Peoples secured a silver medal in the Long Jump with a leap of 15’5.

What’s Next?
The Tem-Cats will look to carry this momentum into the postseason as they prepare for the District 12-6A Track & Field Championships. Temple will have the home-field advantage as the meet takes place April 8th and 9th at Wildcat Stadium.
