HARKER HEIGHTS, TX — The Temple Wildcat Junior Varsity Blue soccer team closed out their 2026 campaign on Thursday evening with a hard-fought 1-1 draw against the Harker Heights Knights. In a match defined by defensive grit and physical play, neither side was able to find a late-game clincher, leaving the points shared at the final whistle.
Perez Provides the Spark
After a scoreless opening period where both defenses stood tall, Temple finally broke the deadlock. Cesar Perez took matters into his own hands, weaving through the Knights' midfield to strike an unassisted goal. Perez’s individual effort gave the Wildcats a temporary lead and energized the Temple bench, proving once again why he has been a key playmaker for the squad this season.
Harker Heights managed to respond before the clock ran out, finding an equalizer that set the stage for a frantic final ten minutes. Despite several late surges into the attacking third by the Wildcats, the Heights' keeper held firm to keep the score knotted at one.
Season at a Glance: District 12-6A
The draw marks the end of a resilient season for the JV Blue squad. Competing in the always-challenging District 12-6A, the Wildcats proved to be a tough out for every opponent on the schedule.
With a final district record of 5-3-4, the Wildcats finish the year with a winning percentage that reflects their consistency and ability to compete under pressure.
Looking Ahead
While the season officially wraps up in Harker Heights, the future looks bright for the Temple soccer program. This JV Blue roster has shown significant growth in tactical discipline and chemistry over the last several months, providing a solid foundation for the varsity ranks in the coming years.
