Tem-Cats Crowned Queens of the Platform: Temple Claims Region 2 Title

DEL VALLE, TX – In a display of raw strength and competitive grit, the Temple Tem-Cat Powerlifting team ascended to the top of the podium on March 5th. Competing in the THSGPA Class 6A Region 2 Unequipped Championships at Del Valle High School, the Tem-Cats edged out the competition to be crowned Regional Champions.

In a nail-biting finish for the team standings, Temple secured first place by a single point.

The Final Team Standings

1st Place: Temple (18 points)
2nd Place: Killeen (17 points)
3rd Place: Joshua (15 points)

Clinton Shatters Records, Punches Ticket to State

The story of the night was senior powerhouse Jazaria Clinton. Competing in the 242+ weight class, Clinton didn’t just win; she rewritten the record books. Clinton broke every one of her own previous regional marks to set a new standard for the division.

The Record-Breaking Performance:

Squat: 405 lbs (New Regional Record)
Bench: 205 lbs (New Regional Record)
Deadlift: 355 lbs (New Regional Record)
Total: 965 lbs (New Regional Total)

With her first-place finish, Clinton officially qualifies for the State Meet, cementing her status as one of the most dominant lifters in Texas.

The Medal Stand: Top 5 Finishers

While Clinton took home the gold, the Tem-Cats' championship run was a total team effort. Temple saw five other lifters place in the top five of their respective weight classes, providing the essential points needed for the team title:

The road leads to the Rio Grande Valley. Jazaria Clinton will represent the Regional Champion Tem-Cats at the State Meet held at the Bert Ogden Arena in Edinburg, Texas. The action kicks off on March 18th at 4:00 PM.
