The Temple Wildcat Junior Varsity Blue soccer team sent their fans home happy on Tuesday evening, securing a hard-fought 4-2 victory over Copperas Cove in their final home appearance of the season.
In a match that mirrored the intensity of a late-season district battle, the Wildcats showed resilience after a back-and-forth opening half to pull away in the closing minutes.
A First-Half Seesaw Battle
The opening 35 minutes were a high-octane affair as both teams traded blows. Temple’s offensive spark plug, Giovanni Nava-Cisneros, was the story of the half. Nava-Cisneros found the back of the net twice to keep the Wildcats in the hunt, fueled by pinpoint distribution from teammates Alejandro Leon and Cesar Perez.
Despite the offensive pressure, Copperas Cove refused to go away quietly, answering the Wildcat attack to send both teams into the locker room deadlocked at 2-2 at the halftime whistle.
Nava-Cisneros Completes the Hat Trick
The second half saw Temple tighten their defensive rotations and dominate the pace of play. It didn't take long for the Wildcats to reclaim the lead. Andres Lopez delivered a well-placed ball to Nava-Cisneros, who buried his third goal of the night, securing a hat trick and giving Temple a 3-2 advantage.
Closing the Door
As the Bulldawgs pushed forward in a desperate attempt to equalize, Temple’s backline held firm. With the clock winding down, Aryan Guleria put the finishing touches on the victory. Taking matters into his own hands, Guleria navigated the Cove defense for an unassisted goal, extending the lead to 4-2 and effectively sealing the win.
Season Outlook
With the win, Temple moves to a solid 5-3-3 in district play. The Wildcats have little time to celebrate, however, as they prepare for one final road test to wrap up the season.
Final Match: Thursday, March 7
Opponent: Harker Heights

The Wildcats will look to carry the momentum from this home finale into Thursday night to finish the year on a high note.
