COPPERAS COVE, TX – In a physical District 12-6A showdown under the lights of Bulldawg Stadium, the Temple Tem-Cats junior varsity soccer team fought to a 1-1 draw against Copperas Cove on Tuesday evening.
The match was a defensive chess match for much of the night, with both sides struggling to find clean looks at the net. Temple finally broke the deadlock when Yuridia Rodriguez found the back of the net, capitalizing on a crisp, well-timed assist from Paulina Garcia.
Defensive Stand
While the offense provided the spark, it was the defensive resilience that defined the night for the Tem-Cats. Mekayla Davila was the standout performer for Temple, earning Player of the Match honors for her relentless hustle and ability to disrupt the Bulldawg counter-attack.
Despite Temple's lead, Copperas Cove managed to find an equalizer, and both teams spent the final minutes of the second half in a deadlocked battle for possession in the midfield.
With Tuesday's result, the Tem-Cats move their season record to a solid standing in a competitive district.
The Tem-Cats don't have long to rest. They are heading into the final stretch of the season with just one game remaining on the calendar.
Temple will return home to the Temple Soccer Complex on Friday, March 6th, to host their season finale. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:15 PM.
Local fans are encouraged to come out and support the JV squad as they look to end their 2026 campaign on a high note.
