DESOTO, TX – The Temple Wildcat Junior Varsity track and field team traveled north this past Saturday to test their mettle against some of the premier programs in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. Competing in a high-octane environment at the Desoto Nike Invitational, the Wildcats secured a 7th place finish in the overall team standings, tallying 28.3 points in a field dominated by team champion Duncanville (157 points).

Despite the stiff competition, Temple proved they belonged on the big stage, fueled by standout performances in the jumping events and consistent scoring from their relay squads.

Field Events Lead the Way

The Wildcats' highest individual finishes came from the sand pits and the rings. Braylon Smith provided the highlight of the day for Temple, leaping his way to a 2nd place finish in the Triple Jump with a mark of 39’3. He was joined on the podium by Alazaerian Lopez, who took 3rd place with a jump of 37’11, giving Temple a powerful 2-3 punch in the event.

In the Discus, Teiaurione Thomas threw a personal best-caliber mark of 122’7 to secure 3rd place, while Jayme Wilson cleared 5’8 in the High Jump to earn 6th place. Jaron Dailey also contributed to the scoreboard with a 7th place finish in the Long Jump (18’10).
