The Frank Mayborn Convention Center was humming with intensity this past Wednesday evening as the Temple Wildcat Powerlifting team hosted the highly anticipated Temple Invitational. Local fans gathered to watch athletes push their physical limits through the "big three" lifts: the squat, bench press, and deadlift.

While the Waco Lions claimed the team championship with a commanding 48 points, the Wildcats held their own in a crowded field, finishing in 5th Place overall with a team score of 14 points.

The Medal Stand

In powerlifting, precision is just as important as raw power, as athletes compete within specific weight categories to see who can achieve the highest cumulative total. Temple saw several lifters reach the podium, with the top five finishers in each division earning medals for their efforts.

Leading the charge for the Wildcats was Bradley Fillmore, who dominated the 308 lb division. Fillmore took 1st Place with a massive 1,415 lb total, highlighted by a 540 lb squat and a 525 lb deadlift. Javier Agard also delivered a standout performance in the 242 lb division, securing 3rd Place and a medal by joining the "500-club" in both the squat and deadlift.
