WACO – The Temple Wildcat powerlifting team traveled to University High School this past Saturday to test their mettle against some of the region’s toughest competition at the Andrew Billings Invitational. In a field defined by narrow margins and massive lifts, the Wildcats secured a 6th place overall finish with a team score of 14 points.
While the Lake Belton Broncos narrowly claimed the top spot with 45 points—just edging out Copperas Cove’s 44—Temple walked away with several individual highlights and a championship performance in the heavy divisions.
Fillmore Grabs Gold
The standout performance of the day belonged to Bradley Fillmore, who dominated the 308-pound weight class. Fillmore took 1st place with a massive triple-threat display, recording a 520 lb. squat, a 345 lb. bench press, and a 500 lb. deadlift for a staggering 1,365 lb. total.
Podium Finishers and Top Performers
Temple’s depth was on display in the middleweight and heavyweight divisions, where several Wildcats earned crucial points:
Javier Agard (242 lb. Class): Secured 3rd place with a balanced and powerful performance. Agard matched his 480 lb. squat with a 480 lb. deadlift, adding a 285 lb. bench for a total of 1,245 lbs.
Blake Anderson (165 lb. Class): Also earned a 3rd place finish, surpassing the 1,000-pound milestone. Anderson notched a 385 lb. squat, 235 lb. bench, and a 405 lb. deadlift to finish with a 1,025 lb. total.
Eric Shelly (198 lb. Class): Cracked the top five in a crowded field, taking 5th place with a total lift of 1,090 lbs.
