TEMPLE, TX — The Temple Tem-Cat junior varsity soccer team made a loud statement to open District 12-6A play on Tuesday evening, delivering a commanding 8-0 victory over Killeen Shoemaker at the Temple Soccer Complex.

From the opening whistle, the Tem-Cats controlled the tempo and territory, stifling the Lady Grey Wolves' defense with a relentless offensive attack and crisp ball movement.

Wannink Leads the Charge

Leading the way for Temple was Roos Wannink, who earned Player of the Match honors. Wannink was a constant threat in the attacking third, finding the back of the net twice to set the tone for the evening.

However, Wannink wasn’t alone in the scoring column, as the Tem-Cats showcased impressive depth. Destiny Calderon matched the team high with two goals of her own, while four other players contributed to the lopsided scoreboard:

Ellie Vriseno: 1 goal
Ella Havis: 1 goal
Austyn Witt: 1 goal
Hannah Arroyo: 1 goal

Defensive Lockdown

While the offense grabbed the headlines, the Temple defensive unit remained organized and disciplined throughout the match. By keeping a clean sheet, the Tem-Cats ensured that Shoemaker never gained the momentum needed to threaten the home side’s early lead.

The victory moves Temple to 1-0 in district play, providing a perfect foundation as they head into the heart of a competitive 12-6A schedule.

Looking Ahead

The Tem-Cats will look to carry this momentum on the road for their next challenge. Temple travels to Hewitt on Tuesday, January 27, to face a tough Midway squad. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:00 PM.

Final Score: Temple 8, Killeen Shoemaker 0

Player of the Match: Roos Wannink (2 Goals)
