DESOTO, TX – The Temple Wildcats boys soccer team made a loud statement to open the DeSoto tournament on Thursday, dismantling the host DeSoto Eagles in a commanding 5-0 shutout victory.

From the opening whistle, Temple’s offensive coordination and clinical finishing proved to be too much for the Eagles to handle.

A First-Half Blitz

The scoring surge began just ten minutes into the match. Jean Carlo Bautista delivered a precise corner kick into the box, finding Javier Orzua Sanchez, who flicked the ball past the near post. Santiago Landeros reacted fastest, beating his defender to the spot and slotting the ball home to give Temple the early 1-0 lead.
The Wildcats didn't wait long to double their advantage. Following a failed clearance by the DeSoto defense, Bautista intercepted the ball and navigated through the box before being fouled from behind. Bautista stepped up to the spot himself, calmly burying the penalty kick to make it 2-0.

Before the halftime whistle blew, Temple added a third. After Vincent Crispin drew a foul 25 yards out, his powerful free kick forced a diving save from the Eagle goalkeeper. Roberto Borbonio Cavazos was first to the rebound, crossing it back into the danger zone where Aiden Stewart was waiting to bury it, sending Temple into the locker room with a 3-0 cushion.

Closing the Door

The second half mirrored the first, with Temple maintaining high pressure. Ten minutes after the restart, Stewart turned playmaker, receiving a throw-in and threading a perfect vertical pass through the defense. Javier Orzua Sanchez timed his run perfectly, taking the ball in stride and slipping it past the keeper for the 4-0 lead.

The highlight of the night, however, came with 15 minutes remaining. After a defensive clearance by the Eagles, Temple right back Dominick Montalbo collected the ball nearly 30 yards out. With one touch to set himself, Montalbo unleashed a "rocket" that found the back of the net, punctuating the 5-0 win in spectacular fashion.
