The Wildcat Basketball team came off their holiday break on Saturday afternoon and hosted the Central District Lions from Australia at Wildcat Gym.
The Wildcats saw no rust from their week long layoff with a 42 point first quarter and a torrid shooting night from senior J'Caleb Martin who posted a team high 43 points while he sank an impressive 13 3-pointers in the Wildcats 135-58 victory over the visitors from down under.
Temple wasted little time taking control of the contest as the Wildcats rolled in the first quarter 42-3 with Houston Martin sinking a trio of 3-pointers and 11 points while Jayden Watkins and Ramauhn Brown each poured in 7 points.
J'Caleb Martin started his hot streak from behind the arc in the second quarter with a trio of 3's as the Wildcats built their lead to 66-20 by halftime.
However, it was all J'Caleb Martin in the third quarter has te senior sank eight 3-pointers in the quarter as the Wildcats topped 100 point mark leading 106-38 going to the fourth. Martin's torrid shooting pace slowed down in the fourth, but he still managed to sink three more 3's before time elapsed in the game.
Every Wildcat that entered the game scored with J'Caleb Martin leading the way with 43, Houston Martin 19, Jayden Watkins 17, Ramauhn Brown 13 and DJ Nelson with 11 points.
Also scoring for the Wildcats were Bryson Williams and Brenden Watters 5 points, Bryce Thomas and Gunnar Westbrook each with 4 points and Dashawn Liggons with 3 points.
The Lions had three players in double figures with Theo Knayechase 15 points, Tyla Humphrey 11 and Campbell Reid with 10 points.
Temple will return to action on January 29th when they will play a pair of games in the M.T. Rice Tournament. The Wildcat open with Clear Lake at 2:00 and later face University at 5:00.
