After suffering first two losses, Temple pulls away to beat Waco

Temple jumped out of the gate with fervor, reeling off seven straight wins before a small hiccup last weekend sent it to the loss column for the first time this season.

The Wildcats turned to their home confines — and an accompanying suffocating defensive attack — to get back on track.

DJ Nelson scored 19 points and Houston Martin followed with 17 as Temple placed four players in double figures, utilizing its full-court pressure to put away Waco in a 71-51 non-district victory Monday night at Wildcat Gym.
