DUNCANVILLE — In the sense that Temple lost its first-round playoff game at Duncanville and finished with a 7-4 record, not much changed from last season to this one for the Wildcats.

However, anyone who watched both matchups realized that the Wildcats — who one year ago trailed 42-0 at halftime and committed five turnovers in their 49-7 loss to the Panthers — produced a much more determined, competitive performance in their rematch with one of the state’s perennial heavyweights.

Champ Mayo’s 12-yard touchdown pass to Ramauhn Brown pushed Temple into a 7-all deadlock after one quarter, but Duncanville responded with two second-quarter TDs for a 21-7 halftime lead as the talent-rich Panthers pulled away to defeat the feisty Wildcats 35-14 in a Class 6A Division I bi-district playoff Friday night...
