Tem-Cats fall to Weiss in season opener

PFLUGERVILLE – The Temple Tem-Cat Basketball team opened their season on Tuesday night with a road game at Pflugerville Weiss. Despite 10 players adding to the scoring column, the Tem-Cats fell to Weiss by a score of 58-37.

Weiss got off to a fast start as they took a 33-10 lead into halftime. Led by Ka’Myhria Freeman’s 8 third quarter points, the Tem-Cat offense came to life in the 17-point period as Temple rebounded in the second half for a 27-25 advantage.

Leading the way for Temple was Mariah Dixon with a trio of 3-pointers for 9 points and Ka’Myhria Freeman with 8 points.

Also, for the Tem-Cats, Tierney Perkins and Maciah Morgan each had 4 points, Jayden Faulks 3 points, Aniyah Brumet, Alanah Johnson, Kendall Tate, Kamiya Porter each with 2 points and Jessie Johnson with 1 point.

Temple (0-1) will return to action on Thursday with a pair of games in the BeYoutiful Classic in Austin. Temple will play Lancaster at 1:30 and Harlingen at 4:30.
