Senior end Carlton can do it all for Temple defense

Jamarion Carlton checks a lot of boxes, as the phrase goes.

Talent? Temple’s senior defensive end is a four-star national recruit, a Baylor verbal commitment and a two-time Navy All-American Bowl selection who stands 6-foot-5, weighs 265 pounds, runs a 4.6-second 40-yard dash and possesses an 84-inch wingspan.

Durability? Carlton will start his 30th consecutive game when the playoff-hungry Wildcats (6-2, 2-2) play their home finale in a crucial District 12-6A showdown against Copperas Cove (6-2, 3-1) at 7 tonight at Wildcat Stadium.

Production? In Temple’s last five games, Carlton had 38 tackles — 17 solo and seven behind the line of scrimmage — along with two sacks and 12 quarterback pressures. In last Friday’s competitive battle at winless Bryan, he delivered nine tackles (five solo, two for losses), one sack, three QB pressures and forced a fumble to help the Wildcats earn a must-have 31-14 victory.
