Wildcats enjoy bye week before resuming 12-6A play

When a 28-yard field goal by Killeen Shoemaker’s Joushua Narvaez Torres sailed through the uprights as time expired last Friday night at Wildcat Stadium, Temple did not get the result it wanted in its District 12-6A opener as the hungry Grey Wolves escaped with a well-earned 31-28 win.

However, first-year head coach Chad President got the response he wanted from his Wildcats following their first loss in five games.

“After we took a knee and talked to them, they came back and said, ‘We’re good. Let’s move on and get ready for the next game,’” President said Tuesday during Temple’s open week in the district schedule. “You want to hear that from your team, especially in the moment after a tough loss like that. It’s a testament to where our program is going, and it’s starting with this senior class.”

President was impressed by the way Temple’s players absorbed the difficult defeat and used it as fuel for their final five district games.
