Averaging more than 40 points and 480 yards per game, Temple posted a 4-0 non-district record including wins against Round Rock and Nuevo Leon (Mexico).

Under first-year head coach Chad President, the Wildcats fit many descriptions — speed, athleticism and good size across the board on offense and defense.

They have a speedy senior wide receiver who’s produced staggering statistics along with a first-year varsity quarterback who’s put up stellar numbers and avoided key mistakes.

The Wildcats completed a perfect non-district run last Friday by hitting the road and overpowering winless Austin High 48-14 at House Park.

But that description also matches the Killeen Shoemaker squad of ninth-year head coach Toby Foreman, whose unbeaten Grey Wolves pulled away from host Waco University in the second half for a 47-28 win last Thursday.

It seems fitting, then, that Temple and Shoemaker will kick off the District 12-6A schedule with an eagerly anticipated showdown at 7 p.m. Friday at Wildcat Stadium.
