TEMPLE CHISELS OUT 35-28 WIN OVER ROUND ROCK, STAYS UNBEATEN

Late 4th and 1 stop helps lead Wildcats to victory

ROUND ROCK — Temple needed everything in its arsenal to overcome adverse situations against Round Rock on Friday night. Fortunately for the Wildcats, they had enough weapons and plenty of heart to get the job done.

After a right arm injury sidelined Temple senior standout quarterback Champ Mayo early, sophomore Kylan Basinger stepped in and passed for 323 yards and three touchdowns — all three to senior Ramauhn Brown — and Cavalli Nealy’s go-ahead 1-yard TD rush with 3:16 remaining helped lift the Wildcats to a dramatic 35-28 victory at Dragon Stadium.

An interception by sophomore cornerback Jaron Dailey on the Dragons’ next offensive snap and Basinger’s 16-yard completion to junior tight end Landon Angenend on fourth-and-7 sealed the win as Temple improved to 2-0 for first-year head coach Chad President.
