Boldon never played linebacker before high school, but Temple linebackers coach Chris Pilot surprised the Bonham Middle School standout running back by telling him linebacker was the position he’d play for the Wildcats.
As a sophomore in 2023, Boldon was Temple’s successor at middle linebacker to four-year star and current Texas A&M junior Taurean York. Boldon played well enough to earn second-team All-District 12-6A recognition but suffered a scary injury in the season finale at Copperas Cove. Returning a kickoff, he absorbed a helmet-to-helmet hit that left him with a concussion and a neck/shoulder stinger, keeping him down for 15 minutes before medical personnel wheeled him away.
Although Boldon recovered from that injury, shoulder surgery for a torn right labrum slowed his preparation for 2024 and the emergence of then-senior linebackers and twin brothers De’Audre and Dederick Colbert cost Boldon playing time, an experience he described as humbling.
