HUTTO – It’s a good thing that Temple still has a full week to prepare for its season opener, because the Wildcats’ starting offense and defense experienced a multitude of difficulties in their scrimmage against Hutto on a soggy Thursday night at Hutto Memorial Stadium.
Temple’s top offense struggled to develop consistent production and never reached the end zone, and the Wildcats’ first-unit defense allowed five touchdowns against Hutto’s big-play attack as the Hippos — who already had a scrimmage against Pflugerville Weiss under their belt — got the upper hand in the 1½-hour scrimmage.
Temple first-year head coach Chad President acknowledged that his Wildcats have a lot of things upon which to improve before they begin the season against Nuevo Leon of Mexico at 7:30 p.m. next Friday at Wildcat Stadium.
