Temple finishes offseason workouts with annual Blue-White game

Temple football fans who gathered Wednesday evening at Wildcat Stadium for the Wildcats’ annual Blue-White spring game were entertained and must have liked nearly everything they saw — just like new head coach Chad President drew it up.

Incoming senior defensive end Jamarion Carlton, one of the country’s most highly recruited players, spearheaded the White team’s top defense by invading the Blue backfield on multiple occasions to produce tackles for big losses.

For the Blue squad, standout quarterback Champ Mayo connected with fellow senior-to-be Preston Thomas for back-to-back pass plays of 37 and 41 yards to set up Cavalli Nealy’s 2-yard touchdown run.

Offering a glimpse into the future of Temple’s offense, quarterback Kylan Basinger completed a 50-yard pass to fellow incoming sophomore Braydn Williams to set up another Nealy TD rush. Then late in the final quarter, Williams skillfully caught Basinger’s touch pass in the back-right corner of the end zone for a 12-yard touchdown that helped the Blue crew emerge with a 4...
