Temple waited almost an extra 24 hours to kick off its Class 6A bi-district playoff baseball series when Thursday’s inclement weather pushed back the opener’s start by a day.
Once the teams finally squared off at Hallford Field on Friday, however, the Wildcats couldn’t hold pace with Waxahachie’s high-speed offense.
The Indians jumped out to a 12-run lead before Temple put its first runs on the board as Waxahachie took Game 1 of the best-of-three series with a 17-2 run-rule victory.
