HEWITT - The Temple Tem-Cat Track & Field team competed in the Class 6A, District 11/12 Area Meet at Panther Stadium in Hewitt on Thursday.
The meet was a qualifying event for next weeks regional meet as the Top 4 places in each event receives the invitation.
Junior Kaurie Holleman punched her ticket to the Regional Meet in a pair of events as Kaurie advanced in the long jump and 400 meters. Senior Jaylynn Pearson will also accompany Holleman in the long jump.
Holleman, who competed in the UIL State Track Meet last season in the 400 meters once again advanced to regionals in 400 and will try to make a return trip to Austin. Holleman ran a time of 54.37 while Datavia Hunter took first at 53.83.
Holleman will also attempt to make it to state in the long jump where she took 1st Place with a leap of 19'4.
Senior Jaylynn Pearson will also try to make the trip to state as she placed 3rd in the long jump with a leap of 18'4.
The Tem-Cats had several other athletes and relays compete on Thursday but fell just short of their regional goal.

Bella Jenkins - 7th Place - Shot Put (34'7 1/4)
Holleman and Pearson will compete in the Regional Meet next Friday and Saturday at Panther Stadium in Hewitt. The Top 2 in each event automatically advance to the UIL State Meet.
